Five segments of Boduthakurufaanu Magu in Male’ have been completed and opened to the public under the first phase of the road development project.
As part of the first phase, a 700-metre section of Boduthakurufaanu Magu from the Henveiru Ferry Terminal to the Izzuddin Jetty has been asphalted.
The project’s contractor, Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) said although the road is open, some minor works are continuing. These include the installation of stair railings along the seawall. Red kerbstones have been placed near the stairs to mark the area.
According to MTCC, more than 3,100 trees have been planted between Henveiru Ferry Terminal and Male’ North Harbour along Boduthakurufaanu Magu.
Boduthakurufaanu Magu was developed by dredging part of the lagoon to widen the road, with the work commencing about three months ago. Parking is prohibited along the newly developed section of the road. However, a dedicated motorcycle parking area with a capacity for 500 motorcycles has been developed in front of the Bank of Maldives (BML) head office. Authorities have warned that action will be taken against vehicles parked outside the designated parking zones.
