The newly appointed Non-Resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Maldives to Serbia, Aminath Shabeena, has presented her Letters of Credence to the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić. The ceremony took place at the Palace Serbia in Belgrade on 14 September.
During the meeting that followed the ceremony, Ambassador Shabeena conveyed warm greetings and good wishes from President Dr Mohamed Muizzu as well as from the government and the people of the Maldives. As the first Non-Resident Ambassador of the Maldives to Serbia, Ambassador Shabeena reflected on the growing ties of friendship and cooperation between the Maldives and Serbia, and expressed her commitment to continue to elevate the relationship.
Following the official ceremony, Ambassador Shabeena attended a dinner hosted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Marko Đurić, in honour of the newly accredited Non-Resident Ambassadors. Ambassador Shabeena also held a meeting with the Head of Asia, Australia and the Pacific Department, Jelena Marković Krstić. During these exchanges, discussions focused on further strengthening the cooperation between the Maldives and Serbia in areas of mutual interest, including education, tourism and trade.
Ambassador Shabeena was accompanied during the visit by the Second Secretary at the Embassy of Maldives in Berlin, Germany, Saifulla Waleed.
