Maldives and New Zealand to further strengthen bilateral relations

The Maldives and New Zealand have expressed interest in further strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries. The discussions took place during a virtual courtesy call after the Non-Resident High Commissioner of the Maldives to New Zealand Ibrahim Shaheeb presented his Letter of Credence to the Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief of New Zealand The Right Honorable Dame Cindy Kiro.

During the virtual courtesy call, the Governor-General of Kiro congratulated High Commissioner Shaheeb on the assumption of his duties as the Non-Resident High Commissioner and reaffirmed the commitment of the Government of New Zealand to further strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries.

High Commissioner Shaheeb expressed his gratitude for being given the honour to present his Letter of Credence and serve as the Non-Resident High Commissioner. He also conveyed greetings from President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the people of the Maldives to the Governor-General, and the people of New Zealand. He further expressed his commitment to work closely with the New Zealand government in further strengthening the existing bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries.
