The Maldives has strongly condemned attacks by the Houthi group targeting civilian and economic facilities in several areas of Saudi Arabia, saying the strikes resulted in injuries to innocent civilians, including women and children.
In a statement, the Maldivian government said the attacks in Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran were a “blatant violation” of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Maldives said the attacks also posed a serious threat to peace, security and stability in the region.
It reiterated its solidarity with the Saudi government and its people, describing them as a brotherly nation, and reaffirmed its support for measures taken by Riyadh to protect its sovereignty, security and territorial integrity.
The statement comes amid continuing regional tensions and attacks involving the Iran-backed Houthi movement, which controls large parts of Yemen.
