The cabinet has deliberated on the current situation of the ongoing war in Ukraine. The discussions were held during the cabinet meeting held at the President’s Office on March 8.
During the deliberations, members discussed the potential effects on the Maldivian economy as a result of the conflict and preemptive steps to mitigate those effects. They also discussed the Maldives' foreign policy stand on the issue.
Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, all Maldivian students in Ukraine have been repatriated. The government is also extending financial assistance to Maldivian students in Belarus.
