Minister of Gender, Family, and Social Services Aishath Mohamed Didi has stated the family and children's services centres (FCSCs) are crucial for implementing the gender equality action plan. She made the remarks in her speech at the closing ceremony of the training programme conducted for FCSC workers.
At the closing ceremony, Minister Aishath Didi said the government needs the full support of FCSC workers in the atolls for the work being done to decentralise the responsibilities of the gender ministry. The minister noted the important role FCSCs play in implementing the gender equality action plan in a decentralised manner and conducting gender sensitisation sessions. She highlighted the need for FCSCs to work more closely with local councils and women's development committees (WDCs).
The purpose of the three-day programme was to provide essential information and training to FCSC workers to fast-track the gender equality action plan at the atoll and island levels. A total of 33 FCSC workers participated in the training programme, including executive directors and essential workers.
FCSC workers are scheduled to implement the training they received and hold information sessions in the islands this month.
