Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services, in collaboration with Aged Care Maldives, has conducted a health assessment of all old age patients at the Special Needs Home in Guraidhoo, Kaafu Atoll.
The assessment is undertaken as part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the gender ministry and Aged Care Maldives in January. Under the MoU, Aged Care Maldives will undertake a 1-year programme to improve the services provided for old age patients and the special needs facility and provide a better environment for them.
The gender ministry revealed an assessment has been conducted on the old age patients at the special needs home. The ministry added an eye check-up was also carried out on patients and caregivers as part of the trip, with the help of an ophthalmologist.
Under the MoU, Aged Care Maldives will also conduct training programmes for caregivers every 4 months. Aged Care Maldives will also assist in conducting regular physiotherapy and exercise sessions for patients, and formulate diet plans with the help of dieticians.
