Department of National Registration (DNR) has revealed expired identity cards can be used by the end of July.
The DNR stated the decision was made as a precautionary measure against the spread of COVID-19 following the advisory of the Health Protection Agency (HPA). The department said individuals can still submit applications for the cards online. DNR said those who wish to obtain a card can submit an application from its and timings for the appointment to picking the card once completed will be sent by a text message to the contact number provided by the individual.
The deadline for using expired cards has been extended three times during the COVID-19 pandemic, aiming to reduce the chances of a large number of people gathering in places.
