The Speaker of Parliament, Abdul Raheem Abdulla, has reaffirmed the current Parliament's unwavering commitment to prioritising the progress, development, and security of the Maldivian people.
Speaking at the conclusion of the first parliamentary session of the year, following the delivery of the Presidential Address by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, Speaker Abdul Raheem emphasised the legislative body’s dedication to national advancement.
The Presidential Address, which provided a comprehensive outline of the government’s vision, plans, and actions across key sectors, set the tone for the session, highlighting both the current state of the nation and the roadmap ahead.
“The 20th Parliament will always put the progress, development, and security of the people first,” Speaker Abdul Raheem said, assuring President Muizzu of Parliament’s continued support for the government and the nation.
He underscored his own commitment to fulfilling constitutional and legal responsibilities with impartiality and diligence. Expressing confidence in the upcoming term, the Speaker noted that Parliament is poised to carry out constructive and effective work, building on the achievements of the previous year.
The first session marked a significant start to the year’s legislative agenda, with the next sitting scheduled to convene on Monday.
