The Maldives has conducted its first webinar targeting Indian travel market.
The webinar was held by the Maldivian High Commission in India, in collaboration with the Consulate General of the Maldives in Thiruvananthapuram, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Tourism, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) and the Health Protection Agency (HPA). The webinar was held to raise awareness about the measures being taken to ensure the safety of tourists in the Maldives, following the opening up of the borders and tourism industry on July 15.
The Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), the tourism ministry, MMPRC and HPA made remarks and presentations during the webinar, focusing on the various safety and precautionary measures taken against the current pandemic at airports, at tourist establishments, and the health sector preparations. Panelists also responded to the queries from the participants.
In total, 181 outbound tour operators across India and prominent media from India participated in the webinar. The interest shown by the participants indicated the interests that exists among Indian tourists towards the Maldives, and keenness of Indian travellers to visit the country once borders reopen in India.
The Maldives is one of the most preferred destinations for Indian travellers. Last year, India was the second largest source market in tourism for the Maldives.
