President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced a contribution of USD 64,600 to Nepal's Prime Minister's Disaster Relief Fund following devastating floods and landslides that struck the country on 26 August.
The donation will support relief, recovery and humanitarian efforts following the disaster, which caused loss of life and widespread damage.
President Muizzu expressed his condolences to the government and people of Nepal, saying the Maldives stood in solidarity with the Nepalese people during the difficult period.
The contribution reflects the Maldives' commitment to regional cooperation and its belief that countries should support one another during times of crisis.
The Maldives and Nepal established diplomatic relations in 1980 and have maintained friendly ties as fellow South Asian nations.
The Maldivian government said it remained committed to strengthening those relations and supporting countries in the region when assistance is needed.
