President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated officers of Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) worked like a shield to protect the public during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking at a function held at the main headquarters of the armed forces to acknowledge and appreciate the role of MNDF in the fight against COVID-19 in the Maldives, President Solih said the engagements of the military officers have been extraordinary and is a testament of their commitment to national service. The president further remarked the officers have remained steadfast and committed in serving the country and its people during very challenging times. He added the public wholeheartedly acknowledges the services and sacrifices of its officers.
Furthermore, President Solih said the participation of MNDF in developing quarantine and isolation facilities in addition to transfer of patients was exemplary and pivotal. Highlighting the sacrifice and service of its officers, the president specially remarked the role MNDF played in developing the Hulhumale' Medical Facility during a very short span.
Additionally, the president stressed MNDF has always continued to be pedestal in the road to national development and stated the efforts of the government to further develop the technical, educational and institutional capacity of the institution. He also stressed on the importance of ensuring better welfare for the armed forces.
