Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Independent Institutions Rozaina Adam has revealed preparations are underway to standardise the appointment of members across all independent commissions in the Maldives.
Speaking to PSM News on revisions to appointments, Parliamentarian Rozaina said the wholesome change will be applicable to appointing members based on a common standard and will dictate policies on appointing presidents and vice presidents in addition to member appointments. She said the objective of standardisation is to better recruitments, appointments, and dismissals in efforts to provide a quality service.
Rozaina said the current policies differ across commissions and said while some institutions require a shortlist of applicants, the other members make public announcements to appoint members. The parliamentarian added the academic qualifications and work experience required set for members are also different across the commissions. She said the members will also be appointed with a focus on gender equality.
