Opportunities for education will not be blocked: President

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated it is a policy of the administration to ensure operations at Islamic University of Maldives (IUM) continue, without being suspended.

In a tweet, President Solih added the administration would not block any opportunity that has been presented for the pursuit of education. He made the statement following a parliament debate where parliamentarians deliberated whether IUM and Maldives National University (MNU) should be merged as a single educational institution, which sparked a nationwide dialogue on the prudence of that suggestion.

On clearing the stance of the administration on the matter, a number of people are applauding and thanking the president on social media.
