Male' Commercial Harbour to be shifted to Gulhifalhu

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has revealed plans to shift the Male' Commercial Harbour, utilised for business purposes, to Gulhifalhu.

The announcement from the president comes several days after the government announced plans to shift the main international port in Maldives to Thilafushi. However, the president announced the change in plans during a campaign gathering held by Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) in Villimale'. He said the decision was made after conducting several surveys.

Addressing the ceremony held by the main ruling party, the president underlined the government has a vision for the Greater Male' Region, adding establishing the main port of the country in Gulhifalhu is part of the initiation.

It is an electoral pledge of President Solih to shift Male' Commercial Harbour.
