Dharumavantha Hospital represents corruption and theft: President

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has described Dharumavantha Hospital built by the previous administration as a monument representing corruption and theft.

Speaking at a campaign event held by Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), President Solih said during his recent trip to Singapore he met with the company which constructed the building and the consultancy firm. Shedding light on the meetings, the president said both companies advised the building could have been built at a lower cost. The building could have been built for USD 5 million, although the previous administration spent USD 20 million for the purchase of equipment alone, the president noted.

Moreover, President Solih widely criticised the project of Dharumavantha Hospital, saying some changes have to be brought to the building before installing the equipment purchased for the hospital. Alleging the state budget was misused for the project, the president stated everyone responsible must be investigated and held accountable for their actions.

Moreover, criticising the 7,000 housing units build in Hulhumale', the president expressed the flats are not suitable for living. He widely criticised the development projects of the past administration describing it all as one big act of corruption.
