Administration not slow in making decisions, conducting projects: President

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has dismissed criticism that his administration is lagging behind in making decisions and conducting development projects.

Speaking on a programme aired on TVM, President Solih said he always considers the outcome before making decisions, reflecting quick decisions on sensitive issues may cause a negative outcome. Noting he follows the same principles in his personal life, the president noted reversing a decision may cause difficulties and burden to citizens. He added there are right solutions to all problems and the key is making wise decisions with an open mind.

Highlighting dialogue can solve any problem, President Solih said he would always prioritise citizens. In this regard, the president emphasised he would never deceive citizens, adding he would be well-received by the public if he is just and honest.

During the programme, the president spoke widely on his work in TVM, the first television channel in Maldives. He reiterated the administration would not interfere the media, emphasising the media should be given space to operate independently without any influence.
