Chief of Defence Force Major General Abdulla Shamaal has said the security measures of populous islands should be further strengthened.
Addressing the ceremony held to handover fire extinguisher pump stations to Dhihdhoo Island Council, Major General Shamaal stated security measures, especially fire extinguishing needs to be further strengthened. He noted the biggest challenge if a fire incident occurs in the capital, Male' City, is protection from fire.
As part of the efforts by Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) to strengthen security measures in the islands, fire extinguishing equipment are handed over to island councils. Distributing fire vehicles to a total of 14 fire stations will begin soon, according to the chief of defence force.
