Maintenance on sewerage network continues: MWSC

Managing Director of Male' Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) Adam Azim has revealed preventive maintenance work on the sewerage network in Male' City is currently being undertaken to resolve manhole overflow issues. Managing Director Adam Azim made the comments at a press conference held at MWSC to brief media on the customer service enhancements of the company.

Manhole overflow issues is a major complain of the residents residing in Male'. To solve the issue, MWSC has begun cleaning the sewerage network.

Speaking at the press conference, Managing Director Azim said the issue of manhole overflow is caused due to lack of proper maintenance and not cleaning the network. Azim revealed several efforts are underway to solve the issue, adding efforts are underway to clean the pipes every night.

While the sewerage network established in Male' City is sufficient to cater for a population of 100,000, the population of Male' has multiplied over the years. In efforts to meet the demand, MWSC is currently working to establish additional 4 pumps in the Male' industrial village.

According to Azim, the installation of pipes will be concluded within the upcoming year. MWSC expects the sewerage network up gradation to cost about USD 3.233 million.
