President Solih inaugurates water and sewerage services in Dhiffushi

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has inaugurated the services of water and sewerage services in Dhiffushi in Kaafu Stoll. The project was conducted in the island by Alifulhu Thuthu Foundation and Meeru Island Resort and Spa. Under the project, clean water services are provided to 301 households while sewerage facilities are provided to 339 households.

Speaking at the ceremony held to inaugurate the water and sewerage services, Minister of Planning and Infrastructure Mohamed Aslam said in the past most developmental projects were conducted in Maldives without any future plans. However, Minister Aslam expressed the new projects will be planned by keeping the growing population in mind. Moreover, the minister stated even though water and sewerages services are basic necessities, the services are established in just 40 islands across the country.

Meanwhile, founding member of Alifulhu Thuthu Foundation Hussain Afeef revealed the project is a step forward in enhancing the tourism sector of the country, while 11 guest houses are operated in Dhiffushi.

After the ceremony, President Solih took a tour of Dhiffushi School, Dhiffushi Council Office and Dhiffushi Health Centre and assessed the situation of the establishments.

The island has a population of 1,312 people.
