Coalition leaders to decide on allocation of parliament seats

Coalition leaders have revealed a decision on contesting for parliament and allocation of seats for coalition candidates will be made soon. The four coalition leaders made the statement while speaking to media following a meeting held at the office of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).

In this regard, former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom said a decision on how to contest for the seats will be made on common grounds and in a way that benefits the citizens.

Meanwhile, former President Mohamed Nasheed revealed the leaders agree that any citizen willing to contest in the parliamentary elections must be given the opportunity to compete.

In addition, leader of Jumhooree Party and Parliament Speaker Qasim Ibrahim assured the four leaders will not make any decision that will dishearten the citizens.

Furthermore, leader of Adaalath Party and Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla highlighted the coalition so far has exerted efforts to work on common grounds, reiterating to work together for the benefit of the citizens.

The meeting was attended by senior officials of the joint coalition.
