The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has commenced its 74th Basic Training Course, marking the start of the course with a special inauguration ceremony.
The MNDF held the ceremony at Southern Area Command, with Commanding Officer of the College of Defence and Security Studies Brigadier General Dr Hussain Ibrahim attending as the chief guest.
Addressing recruits and instructors at the ceremony, Brigadier General Dr Hussain Ibrahim urged the recruits to remain strong and steadfast as service members and work hard to successfully complete the training.
He also called on instructors to conduct every stage of the training with due regard for the safety of the recruits.
The ceremony also included the recruits' oath and the instructors' pledge. Chief Instructor of the course Captain Mohamed Naif administered the oath to the recruits, while Company Commander of the course Major Namil Abdul Gafoor administered the pledge to the instructors.
The 74th Basic Training Course comprises 156 recruits, including 24 women.
Southern Area Command Commander Colonel Mohamed Jamshad, Southern Area Command Deputy Commander Lieutenant Colonel Mohamed Nilaam and Command Sergeant Major of Southern Area Command Command Sergeant Major Abdulla Junaid also attended the ceremony, alongside MNDF personnel of other ranks.
