Muslim World League supports decision to sever ties with Qatar

Muslim World League has supported decision by several Arab Islamic countries to sever ties with Qatar.

Muslim World League is an organization co-founded by Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom. In a statement issued by the Secretary General of Muslim World League, Muhammad Abdul Kareem Al-Issa, the organization severely condemned activities by Qatar to compromise the stability in the Gulf region.

The Secretary General emphasized that any country providing any kind of assistance to organizations that are carrying out acts of terror in the region, is unacceptable. He stressed that Islamic Principles do not support radicalization and the implementation of radical ideologies and terrorism in the name of Islam.

Muslim World League called for collective efforts by al Islamic nations in working against terrorism. Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom was a founder member of Muslim World League and has been a member of its Supreme Council for over 48 years.

However, the former President has faced criticism for recent tweets that contradict with the Muslim World League's stance on the matter of Islamic nations severing ties with Qatar. Organization of Islamic Corporation has also expressed support for the decision by several Islamic nations, to sever ties with Qatar.
