President condemns attempted Houthi drone attack targeting Makkah

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has condemned an attempted Houthi drone attack targeting the holy city of Makkah, saying any threat to Islam’s holiest site is unacceptable.

In a statement posted on his official X account on Wednesday, President Muizzu expressed the Maldives’ full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and described the reported attack as deeply offensive to Muslims.

He praised the swift response of the Royal Saudi Air Defence Forces in protecting Makkah, pilgrims and residents.

President Muizzu also called for an immediate end to such attacks, urging all parties to avoid further escalation and pursue peace and dialogue.
