A delegation from the Communist Party of China (CPC) has discussed strengthening economic cooperation and bilateral ties with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu during a meeting.
The delegation, led by Peng Xiubin, Director General of the Bureau for Southeast and South Asian Affairs at the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC), paid a courtesy call on President Muizzu at the President’s Official Residence, Mulee’aage.
Peng highlighted the shared values and close people-to-people ties underpinning relations between the Maldives and China.
He also commended President Muizzu’s commitment to national reform and the achievements made under his leadership, describing them as a foundation for the Maldives’ continued development.
Peng expressed hope that the two countries could elevate their bilateral relationship through deeper economic cooperation and closer ties for mutual benefit.
He also pointed to frequent high-level exchanges between the Maldives and China as evidence of the strength of the partnership.
President Muizzu expressed gratitude for China’s longstanding friendship and support for the Maldives.
He described the relationship as a comprehensive strategic partnership and acknowledged China’s continued economic assistance to the Maldives.
