The Maldives and Malaysia have signed agreements in key areas during Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s ongoing state visit to the Maldives.
The agreements were signed at a ceremony held at the President’s Office as part of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s state visit, at the invitation of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
Two important agreements were signed during the visit, covering defence and islamic affairs.
The agreement to strengthen cooperation in the defence sector was signed on behalf of the Maldives by Minister of Defence and National Service Hassan Rasheed. Malaysia’s Minister of Investment, Trade & Industry of Malaysia, Johari Abdul Ghani, signed on behalf of Malaysia.
An agreement to strengthen cooperation in islamic affairs was signed by Maldives Minister of Islamic Affairs and Endowments Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, while Johari Abdul Ghani signed on behalf of Malaysia.
During the visit, Prime Minister Anwar met with President Muizzu for official talks between the two countries. The discussions ocused on identifying new areas for partnership and expanding cooperation in the international arena.
