STELCO takes over utility services in eight islands

Fenaka Corporation Limited has transferred utility service operations in eight islands to State Electric Company Limited (STELCO).

The service transfer agreement was signed by Managing Director Mohamed Afeef Hussain on behalf of Fenaka Corporation, and Managing Director Dr Ali Azwar on behalf of STELCO. The handover covers electricity, water and sewerage services in Muli, Dhiggaru, Kolhufushi, Maduvvari, Mulah, Naalaafushi, Raiymandhoo and Veyvah.

The move is part of reforms under the administration of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu aimed at improving service quality.

This follows an earlier handover in April, when Fenaka handed over services in three other atolls to STELCO.
