Kulhudhuffushi City Council has taken a significant step toward modernising its utility infrastructure after holding productive discussions with Kanadevia, a Japanese company with extensive international experience in the utility sector, during an official visit to Tokyo, Japan.
The talks took place as part of the council's participation in the 3rd G-NETS Summit, organised by Tokyo Metropolitan Government under the theme "Building a New Urban Future Resilient to Climate Change and Disasters."
Mayor Mohamed Athif and Secretary General Abdulla Adam represented Kulhudhuffushi at the summit, where they engaged in discussions with Kanadevia representatives regarding potential collaboration opportunities. The primary focus of these discussions centered on modernising and improving the quality of utility services and waste management systems within the city, aligning with Kulhudhuffushi's commitment to enhanced public services.
The Kulhudhuffushi City Council in a social media post highlighting the outcome of the discussions, emphasised that improving utility services remains a special priority in the city's development plan for the current year. The partnership talks with Kanadevia represent a strategic effort to leverage international expertise and best practices in addressing the city's infrastructure needs, it added.
The G-NETS Summit brought together representatives from 48 cities worldwide, creating a valuable platform for dialogue on urban development and sustainable urban management. The summit provided attending municipalities with the opportunity to share information, exchange experiences, and explore innovative approaches to common urban challenges.
