Sustainable investments are essential to building resilient healthcare systems, Minister of Health, Family and Welfare Geela Ali has said.
The Minister made the remarks while speaking at the Unite Global Summit 2026.
Minister Geela delivered her remarks during the Global Leadership Dialogue, held as part of the Unite Global Summit 2026, on the role of political leaders in increasing strategic health investments. During the session, she highlighted the importance of sustained investments, in addition to collaborative efforts, in strengthening public health services, primary healthcare, and building resilient healthcare systems.
The Maldives is being represented by Minister Geela at the Unite Global Summit 2026 in Manila, Philippines.
The summit brings together international leaders to strengthen healthcare systems, improve health outcomes, and reinforce political commitments and investments in the health sector. The event is being held from 3 to 4 August.
During the visit, Minister Geela also met with Pandemic Fund Executive Head Priya Basu.
During the meeting, discussions focused on the Maldives' efforts to strengthen preparedness for pandemics. Minister Geela also highlighted the role the Maldives plays on the Pandemic Fund's Governing Board as the representative for the South-East Asia region.
