First Lady Sajida Mohamed has emphasised the importance of involving girls in shaping the future of artificial intelligence (AI) in an evolving technological landscape.
In a message shared on social media to mark International Girls in ICT Day, she called for stronger encouragement for girls to pursue careers across fields, including technology and the arts.
She said that in a rapidly changing digital world, it is essential for girls to contribute ideas and take part in discussions that influence the development of AI for broader societal progress.
The First Lady also highlighted the need to foster supportive environments that create opportunities for participation, stressing the importance of collaboration in overcoming barriers that limit women’s involvement in certain sectors.
She urged efforts to encourage more women to enter fields where their participation remains low, noting that collective action can help build a more inclusive digital future.
She concluded her message by calling for continued support in educating and empowering girls, stating that progress depends on working together to develop the next generation.
International Girls in ICT Day is observed globally on the fourth Thursday of April, with the aim of increasing the participation of women and girls in science and technology and narrowing the digital gender gap.
