BML announces organisational restructuring and executive role changes

Bank of Maldives (BML) has announced a new organisational structure and changes to the roles of the executive team members.

According to BML, the changes are designed to strengthen accountability, simplify the customer journey, and align the bank more closely with its long-term strategy of sustainable growth, deeper customer relationships, and elevated service standards.

As part of this restructuring, four members of the executive team have taken up adjacent roles for an initial period of six months:

• Aishath Zamra Zahir — Chief Commercial Officer
• Moosa Nimal — Chief Marketing Officer
• Rashfa Jaufar — Chief Risk Officer
• Gary Laughton — Chief Credit Officer

BML’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef said the changes were brought to support the bank’s growth. He said the bank is currently in a strong position, and that the temporary rotation of executive roles is a deliberate investment in leadership depth, as giving experienced leaders direct exposure to an adjacent discipline strengthens both the individual and the institution.

BML said the restructuring reflects BML’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its organisation, investing in its people and capabilities, and delivering sustainable growth while raising the standard of service for its customers. These changes are internal and will not affect customers' accounts, products, services, or existing points of contact.
