Laboratory services have been officially launched at Maalhos Health Centre, in a move aimed at improving access to basic healthcare services.
The service was inaugurated at a special ceremony attended by Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim, Minister of Health, along with officials from the Ministry of Health, Maalhos Council and the health centre.
Following the launch, Health Minister Nazim met with the senior management team of the health centre to discuss operational challenges and explore ways to address existing issues.
The minister highlighted that laboratory services are a fundamental component of healthcare and said the government is working to ensure such services are accessible to communities across the country.
He noted that the availability of laboratory services will support the early detection of diseases and strengthen ongoing efforts to promote public health and build a healthier population.
The Ministry of Health has announced plans to establish laboratory services in 76 islands this year as part of its nationwide healthcare development programme.
