The Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development has launched a new digital platform, the Higher Education Management System known as Kuri, aimed at strengthening and streamlining services provided to students.
The system was inaugurated by Dr Ali Haidhar Ahmed, Minister of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development. The Ministry said the platform marks a significant step towards improving governance and management within the higher education sector.
According to the Ministry, Kuri is designed to provide a more responsible and efficient approach to education services, benefiting students, parents, and service providers. During the launch, students were also briefed on how to use the system.
Iyan Shareef, a Maldivian student currently studying in Malaysia, said the system would be especially beneficial for students studying abroad. He noted that the platform improves transparency and saves time.
“In the past, most requests had to be submitted by email. Being overseas, it was difficult to visit the Ministry to clarify information, particularly to track the status of matters such as loan disbursements,” he said.
The Ministry said the government places high priority on delivering reliable and efficient education services and noted that the system is expected to play an important role in addressing financial challenges faced by students.
