Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Resources, Ahmed Shiyam described Maldives’ national radio broadcaster, ‘Dhivehiraajjeyge Adu’, as an important medium to deliver information pertaining to the fisheries sector and a close partner of fishermen.
Speaking to the broadcaster on its 63rd anniversary, the minister said the institution and fishermen have a decades long close relationship, highlighting that since 1985 the broadcaster has delivered programmes relating to fisheries to the public.
The minister said that service of ‘Dhivehiraajjeyge Adu’ is ‘priceless' to fishermen, reflecting on how the broadcaster has integrated the voices of the fishermen into its programmes throughout its decorated lifetime.
Shedding light on the broadcaster's present contributions to the fisheries sector, the minister said that they have utilised modern, digital tools to provide comprehensive, accurate and vital information regarding ongoing works in the sector to the public.
