Maldives propels nationalism agenda with launch of national college

Minister of Dhivehi Language, Culture, and Heritage Adam Naseer Ibrahim has unveiled plans to commence construction of the National College for Nationalism within the next six months, furthering President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's Maldivian Nationality Revival Initiative.

The initiative, first announced in January, aims to establish a specialised institution dedicated to imparting knowledge on Maldivian nationalism and history. Minister Naseer disclosed that the new college will be situated in the former Centre for Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) building.

In an exclusive interview with PSM News, Minister Naseer outlined the timeline for the renovation of the CHSE building, slated to begin upon securing funding, with a target completion period of five months. He also revealed that the Sifainge Welfare Company (SIWEC) of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) is spearheading the renovation efforts.

Furthermore, Minister Naseer provided updates on the progress of the National Centre for Heritage Research, indicating plans to recruit 60 researchers, of which 10 have been hired thus far. Despite staffing challenges, preliminary research activities have commenced, laying the groundwork for the centre's future endeavors.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's Maldivian Nationality Revival Initiative encompasses multifaceted initiatives, including the establishment of the National College, revitalization of the National Printing House, and implementation of national awareness programs promoting the Maldivian language.
