Speaking to PSM News, Managing Director of RACL, Ahmed Mubeen said the information has been shared with airlines regarding commencing flights to Muli Airport, including with Maldivian, Villa Air and Manta Air.

Mubeen noted that so far, only Maldivian has expressed interest in operating flights to Muli. He revealed that the airline is in discussion on commencing scheduled flights to the airport from 17 May, adding that bookings are expected to open shortly after confirming the flight schedules.

A test flight successfully landed at Muli Airport on 25 April. Mubeen confirmed that all technical assessments of the airport have now been completed.

The government is currently preparing to officially inaugurate the airport on 15 May, which will be officiated by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.

Muli Airport is designated for domestic flights. The airport’s development involved reclamation of 36 hectares of land and construction of a 1500-metre runway. The project, which features state-of-the-art facilities, was carried out at a cost of more than USD 19.46 million.
