Six candidates who competed in elections independent join PNC

Six candidates who secured seats in the parliamentary elections held on April 21, have signed to become members of the ruling party: People's National Congress (PNC).

The forms were signed in a special ceremony in which President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, state ministers and some PNC officials attended. The candidates who joined PNC are; Dr. Anaara Naeem, Hassan Zareer, Ahmed Zameer, Ahmed Riyaz, Yaseen Abdullah and Azim Abdul Azeez.

In the parliamentary elections, PNC's candidates competed for 90 constituencies, while the preliminary results indicate that 66 seats were secured by PNC's candidates. This concludes that PNC has achieved the super majority of the Parliament which can be accomplished if a party secures at least 63 seats.

With an additional six members joining the party, a total of 72 members will be representing PNC in the newly elected Parliament. In the interim, the leaders of other political parties that endorse the government have secured three seats, thereby bringing the total number of seats that support the government to 75.
