Over 400,000 tourists visit Maldives so far this year

The Ministry of Tourism has revealed that more than 400,000 tourists have visited the Maldives so far this year.

The latest statistics published by the tourism ministry show that a total of 423,863 tourist arrivals visited the Maldives as of March 2, which is an increase of 16.9% compared to the 362,559 arrivals during the same period last year. The statistics show that that over 200,000 tourist arrivals visited the Maldives in February, marking a historic first.

The statistics also reveal that China contributed the most tourists with 54,719 arrivals, followed by Russia with 41,583 , and Italy with 39,962. Currently, Maldives receives an average of 7,042 tourists every day, which spend an average of eight days in the country.

The government's target is to attract two million tourists this year, but the ministry anticipates that the actual number of tourists will reach 2.3 million.
