Fenaka resolves Dhonfanu power issues with new generators

Fenaka Corporation Limited has stated that it has installed a new generator set, resolving the power issues in Dhonfanu, Baa Atoll.

The power disruption on December 23, which was caused by generator issues at the Dhonfanu power plant, prompted immediate action from Fenaka. The company immediately initiated repairs, providing a temporary solution to the island's electricity issues by restoring power at 1715hrs on the same day. The company has now installed a 250kW generator to address the issue permanently, ensuring a more stable electricity supply to the island.

Dhonfanu has a population of 600 residents and saw its first electricity service in 1999. The government's efforts to enhance the power infrastructure on the island included upgrading the power plant to modern standards. The upgrade increased the electricity capacity from 150kW to 600kW. A new cable network was also installed, modernising the electricity grid at the power plant.
