President, ITFC chief discuss economic cooperation and trade

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC) Chief Executive OfficerAdeeb Yousuf Al Aama, have discussed ways to strengthen economic cooperation, expand trade and support the Maldives’ development goals.

The discussions took place during Al-Aama’s courtesy visit to President Muizzu at the President’s Office.

The two sides discussed economic cooperation, trade development and infrastructure, as well as ways to advance the Maldives’ broader development objectives.

They also reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the longstanding relationship between the Maldives and ITFC.

ITFC is a member of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and was established to promote trade among OIC member states and help improve their socio-economic conditions.

The Maldives has received assistance from ITFC since 2005. Its first support came following the 2004 tsunami, through assistance provided by the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group.

Maldives has since received trade financing support from ITFC on several occasions.
