Fenaka expanding digitalisation of services

Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation Limited Ahmed Saeed Mohamed has announced that the project to digitalise services is being expanded to cover the entire country. He made the statement during the official inauguration ceremony of the new power plant and office building in Bilehdhoo, Faafu Atoll.

Speaking at the ceremony, Saeed mentioned that the administration of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih is prioritisng the reduction of expenditure in the energy sector by modernising the services provided. In line with this objective, a significant project to install smart meters is underway to digitalise services nationwide.

Furthermore, Saeed highlighted that the smart metre service was initially introduced in Maamnedhoo, Gaafu Alifu Atoll, and has since expanded to many islands in the atolls. This initiative allows customers to view their daily electricity usage statistics through mobile phones, enabling them to adjust their electricity usage and reduce wastage.

During the ceremony, President Solih officially inaugurated the new Fenaka power plant and office building in Bilehdhoo. The power plant occupies an area of 2,200sqm, while the office building covers 1,600sqm.

Bilehdhoo first received electricity in 1990, and currently, a 1,200KW generator system is utilized to supply electricity to the island. With the expansion and modernization of the power plant, the residents can expect improved and more efficient electricity services.
