Gov't contracts to develop an Islamic Centre in Dhidhdhoo

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has contracted Rasheed Carpentry and Construction (RCC) Private Limited to build an Islamic Centre in Dhidhdhoo, Haa Alifu Atoll. The agreement was signed by the Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Zahir Ali and the Director of RCC Mohamed Waheed.

Under the project, RCC is contracted to build an Islamic Centre with a capacity of 1,500 worshippers, a prayer area, and a multipurpose hall for 450 worshippers. In addition, the centre will have an administrative office, a library, four classrooms, two seminar rooms and a pantry. The centre will also consist of air-conditioning and will use renewable energy to reduce electricity consumption.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Minister Zahir urged the contractor to begin the project as soon as possible. He also said that the company that was awarded the contract is well-experienced and expressed confidence that the project will be carried out at a fast pace.

The project was awarded to RCC to be completed within 540 days at a cost of USD3.2 million.
