Gov't sets hours for goods transport and businesses for Ramadan

The government has started implementing new operating hours of cafes, restaurants, shops, and the transport of goods during the holy month of Ramadan and the first seven days of Shawwal.

Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has given permission for goods to be transported from 0900hrs to 1630hrs and from 2000hrs to 0600hrs, while vehicles are banned from transporting any types of goods for commercial purposes from 1630hrs to 2000hrs. Furthermore, the new policies state all types of vehicles are allowed to transport goods across the Sinamale’ Bridge from 0900hrs to 1630hrs and from 0100hrs to 0600hrs, while vehicles are banned from transporting any types of goods across the bridge for commercial purposes from 1630hrs to 2000hrs. It also states that vehicles can transport water and cooking gas across the bridge from 0900hrs to 1630hrs and from 2000hrs to 0600hrs.

Ministry of Economic Development stated that shops and similar businesses will be permitted to operate between 0530-0100hrs during Ramadan and the first seven days of Shawwal. Meanwhile, cafes and restaurants will be allowed to operate from 1730-0300hrs during Ramadan and 0430-0300hrs during the first seven days of Shawwal.

The President's Office has announced the official government working hours during the month of Ramadan and the first seven days of Shawwal will be from 0900-1300hrs.
