Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has stated that fishermen will have the opportunity to easily participate in credit schemes with the new mobile application developed for fishermen. Minister of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan launched an application name HOSA at this year's Fishermen's Day function held in Faresmaathoda, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.
Speaking to PSM News, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ismail Fauzee said the current billing system will come to an end with the application. He said that the application will also allow fishermen to see the areas where they have caught fish and the number of fish caught. He added that the main purpose of the application is to provide many opportunities to fishermen and enhancement of services available from other companies and financial institutions. He said that efforts are being made to add more features to the Masveringe App as well. With that, he said the app will become more complete.
MIFCO expressed the belief that the efforts to modernise its services will bring many improvements to the fisheries sector in the Maldives. The company also sees it as a relief for fishermen and encourages more locals to join the industry.
