SSC exams facilitated for Maldivian students in Malaysia

Ministry of Education has facilitated the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations to be conducted for Maldivian students living in Malaysia. The facilitation of SSC exams in Malaysia was officially inaugurated by Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali during a special ceremony held at the High Commission of the Maldives in Malaysia.

The education ministry revealed six Maldivian students in Malaysia will undertake the SSC exams of June 2022, which includes the exams for the subjects Dhivehi and Islam. The ministry revealed two staff members of the high commission have been trained as examination officials for the SSC exams.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Education Minister Dr. Aishath Ali noted there is a large number of Maldivian children growing up in Malaysia and highlighted the importance of teaching the language, culture and religion of the Maldives to such children. She added the aim of facilitating SSC exams in Malaysia is to provide the opportunity for Maldivian students in the country to attain Dhivehi language skills and to seek Islamic knowledge and discipline.

The education ministry revealed the SSC exams will take place in Malaysia every year. The ministry said technical assistance and resources will be provided for teachers to prepare students for the exams.
