President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has congratulated the President of France Emmanuel Macron on winning a second term in office.
In a tweet, President Solih extended warm congratulations to President Macron on his decisive electoral win to a second term as the President of France. President Solih said he looks forward to the continued strengthening of the already warm friendship between the Maldives and France.
President Macron won his re-election bid with 58.2% of the popular vote, beating the far-right candidate Marine Le Pen who received 41.4% of the vote. Macron becomes the first French President to win a second term in office in the past 20 years.
