State Trading Organisation (STO) has identified agents in 136 islands to provide staple foods at a uniform price.
STO People's Choice has handed over the letter of appointment to the 136 agents who will sell the brands of STO in the islands.
STO stated that the main purpose of introducing STO People's Choice Agents is to facilitate easy access to goods from brands imported and sold by STO in all parts of the country and to develop small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the atolls.
It is a pledge of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to eliminate the price differences of staple foods across the country.
