The Parliamentary Group (PG) of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has elected Parliamentarian Hussain Shaheem as its second Deputy PG Leader.
Shaheem won the position following a runoff election which was held after the initial PG election on February 18 resulted in a tie for the second of the two Deputy PG Leader positions. Shaheem won the runoff election with 38 votes, ahead of Parliamentarian Ilyas Labeeb who received 25 votes.
During the MDP PG election held last month, Parliamentarian Mohamed Aslam was elected as the new PG Leader of the party and Parliamentarian Mohamed Rasheed Hussain was elected as one of the two deputy leaders.
