Parliamentary committee approves transfer of two ambassadors

Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Relations has approved the request by the government to change the delegate countries for two ambassadors appointed to foreign countries.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih requested the Parliament of the Maldives via a letter to change the delegate countries for Ambassador to Belgium and the European Union (EU) Hassan Sobir and Ambassador to Sri Lanka Umar Abdul Razzaq. The request was made to appoint Umar Abdul Razzaq as the Ambassador to Belgium and the EU and appoint Hassan Sobir as the Ambassador to Japan. The request was passed by the parliamentary committee with votes from 8 members.

Ambassador Umar Abdul Razzaq holds a Master's in Business Administration from Edith Cowan University, Australia, and has fulfilled various senior roles in government. Meanwhile, Ambassador Hassan Sobir holds a Master's in Business Administrations from the University of South Wales, Australia, and has held various positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
