JSC appoints Zulaiha, Nimaal as Civil Court Judges

Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has decided to appoint Zulaiha Sheeza and Ahmed Nimal Junaid as judges to the Civil Court of the Maldives.

JSC stated the two were chosen after conducting interviews of applicants and receiving recommendations from the committee tasked with appointing judges. The commission decided to appoint Zulaiha Sheeza and Ahmed Nimal during its 10th sitting this year held on February 16.

Zulaiha Sheeza holds a Bachelor of Law with Honours from HELP University in Malaysia and a Master of Laws in Constitutional Politics, Law and Theory from Birkbeck, University of London. She has worked as a state counsel at the Attorney General's Office (AGO) and as a state attorney for three years.

Ahmed Nimal holds a Bachelor of Shariah and Law with Honours from Villa College and worked as a managing partner at Faruhaan Zameel and Nimal.

The swearing-in ceremony of the new judges has been scheduled for March 15.
